Creating a healthy watershed using Artificial Intelligence

In a data-rich world, building long-term healthy watersheds for business growth, economic development, social well-being and ecosystem health is within our reach.

Powerful new artificial intelligence (AI) models allow us to make cause and effect connections between multiple water events and – more importantly – extract real-time actionable insight which humans can use to make better decisions.

This is the ultimate aim of Water United, a new private-public catalytic community established for the Colorado River Basin.

Using FIDO Tech’s advanced AI and other data analytics we strive to collectively achieve enduring water abundance and equitable access through the efficient use and reuse of water in the utilities, industrial, agricultural and built environment sectors.

FIDO AI’s unique ability to verifiably quantify the real-time water impact of any physical, technological or human activity or intervention at a basin level is the key to this endeavor.

Starting with quantifiably replenishing clean water at basin level by directing utility engineers to their biggest leaks, FIDO is connecting and curating siloed utility and other datasets to build out a complete volumetric model for the Colorado watershed.

As our community grows and safe data-sharing increases, we will incorporate demand management, water reuse, water quality and more into our AI basin model. All this will be underpinned with the rigor of commercial agreements and transparent, evidential volumetric reporting.

Our core activities will include:

  • Integrating additional validated data sets from Water United partners and activities to uncover connections between discrete watershed events.
  • Facilitating detailed management strategies that link utilities, agriculture, planners, municipalities, communities and others seamlessly.
  • Ensuring easy and equitable access to water management information through generative AI technologies such as askFIDO to enable timely actions and better long term planning.
  • Transforming the reach and return on investment by linking previously disparate projects into a unified approach for long-term watershed health using advanced AI modeling.

Democratized access to pooled transparent, verifiable and real-time data, guided from AI, will transform the reliability of forecasting for public policy and interventions, vastly increase long term water resilience for all stakeholders and inform decision-making and diplomacy by corporations, communities, agriculture, municipalities and civil society.

And, not least, it will protect the wild beating heart of our beautiful life-giving river, the Colorado. This will be our legacy.
